In the first round of tournament volleyball action, the Murray County Central Rebels got off to a slow start against the Red Rock Central Falcons.

The Falcons clearly came to play and jumped out to a nice lead in the first set in Slayton. The Rebels were unable to string any runs together until late in the game before the Falcons took a time out, protecting a 22-19 lead, and securing the win 25-20.

The reality check was all MCC needed and it was all Rebels in game two. Red Rock struggled from the very beginning with three service errors early on and MCC took advantage. Hitters Kate Slettum, Abby Loosbrock, Atalie Rosenbrook and Thea Schneider combined for 10 kills in the 25-12 win.

Momentum stayed with the home team in set three behind Emmi Peltola and Slettum, combining for 11 points at the service line. The Rebels played a complete, balanced game spreading the wealth in all aspects of the game, topped off with a game point ace from Loosbrock; 25-21.

The Rebels were determined not to let the Falcons back in during the 4th and final set. Kelli Miller served out the game from point 18 with a full arsenal at the net. MCC combined for 10 ace serves, 39 Kills, 79 Digs and 4 Ace Blocks in the 25-14 score.

The Rebels will travel to Okabena to take on the #2 seed Heron Lake-Okabena-Fulda Coyotes Friday night to move through tournament play.
