FARM TRANSITION AND ESTATE PLANNING WORKSHOP PLANNED

SLAYTON, Minn. (1/12/2024) – Are you thinking about how to transfer your farm business or land to the next generation? Is planning for the transition of your farm something that weighs on your mind, and you need help getting started? University of Minnesota Extension is presenting a workshop on farm transition and estate planning on Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Slayton, Minnesota at the Pizza Ranch. No matter what stage of the planning process you are in, attending this workshop will help answer your questions and help alleviate the stress and burden that comes with farm transition and estate planning discussions.

The workshop is free and includes lunch. It will be held at the Slayton Pizza Ranch, located at 2306 Broadway Ave., Slayton, Minnesota. The workshop will cover farm goal setting, business structures, farm operation and management succession ideas, estate planning and retirement, family communication, and additional farm transition educational resources.

“Planning for a farm transition can be challenging. This workshop gives farmers and ranchers things to think about and the tools to begin the process,” says Susanne Hinrichs, Extension educator. “Farmers and ranchers at any stage, from beginner to mid-career, to thinking about retirement can benefit from the workshop materials.”
