Dorothy Kathleen Klingenberg, 79, of Chandler, MN passed away peacefully on Monday, August 1, 2022, at Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton, MN. Dorothy was born to Geurt and Catherine Van Roekel on February 19, 1943, in Ruthton, MN. At the age of three, her family relocated to their farm near Chandler. Dorothy was a long-time member of Chandler Reformed Church and attended Chandler public schools.
On March 26, 1983, Dorothy married Virgil Klingenberg. They made their home in Owatonna, MN, where Dorothy worked as an in-home caregiver. After Virgil’s retirement, they moved back to Dorothy’s home farm near Chandler.
Dorothy loved being on the farm, having fun with her friends, going shopping and especially trips to Pizza Ranch. Everyone who met Dorothy immediately became her friend.
Those who will be missing Dorothy include her brother Gearold (Mary) Van Roekel of Sun City, Arizona; sister-in-law, Delena Van Roekel of Las Vegas, Nevada; nephews Luke (Heidi) Van Roekel and Seth (Kumiko) Van Roekel, niece Eve (Jeremy) Smith; three great-nieces, Ellie Van Roekel, Rihana Van Roekel, and Kara Smith and two great-nephews, Noah Van Roekel and Rein Van Roekel, as well as many cousins and close friends.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband Virgil, her parents Geurt and Catherine, her brothers Jacob Van Roekel and Harvey Van Roekel and her niece Kirsten Celeste (K.C.) McCallister.
Chandler Funeral Association is assisting the family with arrangements.
