Court Queen of Peace #1558 met on Oct. 22, 2024 at 5:30 at the home of Jeaneen Nelson on the special occasion of welcoming members of the disbanded court of St. Teresa, Currie. The evening began with wine, cheese and snacks followed by welcome, prayer and business meeting conducted by Regent Deanna Konkol.
Pam Marshall, secretary named 9 transfer members from Currie: Lana Oliver, Sharon McClure, Elaine Schlichte, Rita Morin, Lita Schreier, Joan Olsem, Bev Schreier, Jeanette Silvernale and Nancy Beech. Currie would have celebrated 99 years as a court. A display of artifacts has been set up in Currie’s Immaculate Heart of Mary basement.
The new call list put together by Financial Secretary, Barb Minnehan will be helpful in reminding members of meeting dates. She would appreciate any changes such as address, phone numbers or emails be sent to her. The Financial Audit is scheduled for Oct. 23 after Mass.
Legislative chair, Jan Bryan, emphasized the importance of voting on Nov. 5.
Support Our Seminarians (SOS) indicated a change deleting John Paul Phillips and adding Joe Bartosh from Heron Lake. A thank you note was received from John Paul.
A thank you was extended to those attending CDA Sunday and Gummi Bear solicitors.
After a discussion about Bingo at Westbrook, Nursing Homes, which was a project Currie was familiar with, it was decided to continue that endeavor. Donations to the Dudley House in Sioux Falls, which provides a variety of items for families and individuals, is an ongoing project during October and March.
Members volunteered to decorate a tree at the Dinehart Holt House sometime between Nov.19 and Dec.3. Christmas baskets will be compiled and delivered the week before Christmas. Currie usually does a bake sale so there will be ongoing discussion about that.
It was decided to wait until after Spring Fling before offering the opportunity for Currie Sisters to have a Heart Sister.
Nov. 19 is the Memorial Mass to be held at St. Ann’s for deceased Court members including Currie at 5:30. A business meeting will follow. The lunch committee is Marilou Christensen, Kim Konkol, Connie McNab, Lisa Ackerman and Deb Kremer.
