Court Queen of Peace met at Immaculate of Mary Church in Currie on Tues., April 28, 2026 at 5 PM with light supper provided by the Currie members to 20 members and guest Lori Mickelson, 2nd vice-regent representing the State Board. She congratulated the court on the 75th anniversary and encouraged the court to make installation of officers a special occasion and to consider joining another court for that occasion. She traced her enthusiasm for CDA to the fact that she turns to her faith when she hits roadblocks, to the special gift of friends, prayer, and to the opportunity to offer services and donations to projects across the nation. She offered reminders of a retreat in Alexandria June 27, the National Convention in Coralville, IA in July, the Fall Workshop in Marshall August 27, and Habitat House in Northfield.
The Secretary’s and Treasurer’s and Financial secretary’s reports were given. Only 5 members are left to pay dues. Jan Bryan, Legislative rep, provided information about the difference between Christian Nationalism and Christianity. Jill McCord, SOS chair, reported that she has sent a donation to the nuns in New Ulm and passed the dish for donations to support our nuns and seminarians.
The only item of old business was an update on the 75th anniversary party on June 3 that the committee has been working on. A survey, in order to make meal plans, was passed to indicate whether members would “attend“, “not attend“, or “may attend“.
On New Business a suggestion was brought forward that a ‘themed potluck’ featuring hot dish one month, salad the next month, or an appetizer the next month be brought. The down side of that is that it involves only members who come to the meetings. Assigning people each month involves all members.
Regent Deanna Konkol attended a meeting put on by ACE and Sanford discussing information on a Matter of Balance which hopes to help reduce elderly falls. This activity will take place at the Food Shelf building on Mondays and Wednesdays 1:30 to 2:30 beginning April 29.
The upcoming events: 1st Communion on May 3, May Crowning TBD, Presentation of a scholarship to a high school graduating senior on May 10, Bingo at Westbrook, Tracy and Fulda Nursing Homes during the summer. Next meeting Spring Fling at Pizza Ranch at 5 PM on May 20 at which time Secret Sisters will be revealed.
