Court Queen of Peace met Nov. 19, 2024 after the Memorial Mass for deceased court members Barb Surprenant, Iva Gorgen, Kay Weiss, Eva Clausen and Eunice Ramert.

Kim Konkol, Marilou Christensen and their committee served a delicious lasagna supper followed by opening prayer, pledge and call of the meeting to order by Regent Deanna Konkol.

Recording secretary Pam Marshall read the minutes which were approved and correspondence from Elaine Schlichte, Sharon McClure and seminarian Jonathon Lenz.

Financial secretary Barb Minnehan reported that many items were taken to Dudley House. She also noted new members Marcia Schreier and Wendy Samper. Welcome ladies!

Legislative chair Jan Bryan reminded the group that the Courier is an excellent source to find out what is happening in the legislature. A quote from the cCourier says that “Immigrants have the same joys, hopes, griefs and anxieties as we do and our Christian faith reminds us to defend, protect and care for the most vulnerable in our midst including immigrants.”

Unfinished business included thank you’s to those who donated to Dudley House, the planning committee for the memorial Mass and the lunch committee. The once a year Bingo event initiated by the Currie ladies will continue in Fulda, Currie and Westbrook. The Christmas tree at the Holt Museum will be decorated on Nov. 20.

The standing rules were approved and adopted. It was recommended that LaRue Robinson should be given stamps to fulfill her role.

The dates and lunch committee schedule was handed out and noted that the February meeting will be a 9:30 meeting in Currie. The church bulletins in Slayton and Currie will remind parishioners about the need for donations of food, gas cards, grocery gift cards to fill the baskets that will be distributed by CDA members to persons in need Dec. 15. Items can be left at St. Ann’s.
