Court Queen of Peace met April 23 at 5:30 with 13 members present. Following opening prayer and flag pledge Regent Amy Called the meeting to order, and thanked Mary Meaden, Barb Minnehan and their committee for the delicious meal.
The treasurer’s report was given with no secretary’s report available. Barb Minnehan, Financial Secretary, reported 60 members with 21 of them having paid dues so far.
There was correspondence from the seminarians that we sponsor, Marcie Cowan Faith Formation coordinator, and St. Bernard Court, Lismore with an invitation to the Spring Lunch on June 5 and the 100th anniversary on June 23.
Jan Bryan, Legislative chair gave an update on what the legislature is doing saying that The Bill Tracker at the Minnesota Family Council is an excellent resource. The bill concerning assisted suicide is in committee in both chambers. The Equal Rights Amendment is set to be voted on by the House and if passed will go to the voters in a future general election. Surrogacy issues are discussed in full in the Courier. These issues and several others are explained in the Bill Tracker. She encouraged all to contact the MN Family Council at 612 789 8811.
* The 1st Communicants each received gifts from CDA.
* The fund-raising committee is trying to find a time to meet. Send your ideas to Jeaneen, Rita Kirchner, Kim Konkol or Amy.
* May crowning is scheduled for May 11 at the 5 PM Mass. Flowers will be provided to place before the Blessed Virgin.
* Meals on Wheels is May 20-24. If you can assist contact Joyce Risacher or Amy.
* Baccalaureate is May 18.
Jenny Powell with Marketing for the Bishop Dudley House in Sioux Falls, SD was the guest speaker. The Dudley House is an emergency shelter that serves the needs of the community by providing safe shelter, hot meals, case management, and medical and mental health resources for the homeless without cost. There are many volunteer opportunities.
