The first meeting of the year took place with a potluck supper at Gullard Park at 6 PM with 16 members present.
Regent Amy Kathman called the meeting to order. Committee chairs for Support Our Seminarians, Legislative, Family and Spirituality are needed, Joann Halbur graciously volunteered to chair Spirituality. These positions are not difficult so if you are reading this and would like to help out give Amy a call.
Since our last get together which was an abbreviated Spring Fling (due to weather), we have held Installation of Officers and new members for Courts Queen of Peace, Slayton and St. Theresa, Currie. Accepting the role of Regent Amy Kathman (S), Lana Olivier (C);Vice Regent is Deanna Konkol (S); Recording Secretary Joan Ratliff (S), Sharon McClure ( C); Financial secretary Barb Minnehan (S), Eva Clausen (C); Treasurer Betty Palmer (S), Nancy Beech (C); Chaplain Father Thien Nguyen. St. Theresa Court installed Sammie LeClaire, Gabby Gervais, Katie Gervais and Michelle VanderVeen. We are actively seeking new members since membership is down 5 members in the Slayton court since last spring.
Betty Palmer asked that officers please sign the signature card at the bank according to new bank regulations. Members were asked to give grocery store personnel adequate information so that the billing goes to the appropriate church organization.
Amy handed out a packet with dates of meetings and lunch committee assignments. The standing rules were also in that packet. The calling tree will be updated and the budget will be ready for review at the next meeting.
Several ideas for a service project were discussed. We need your input. We were encouraged to promote the rosary. There are plenty of rosaries available in church and some ’How to Say the Rosary’ pamphlets. Father will hand out rosaries and pamphlets during October, the month of the rosary.
Jeaneen Nelson, who had attended the National Convention in Puerto Rico spoke about the experience and how inspiring it was.
The Fall Workshop was held in Wilmont with Marlys Knuth, Amy Kathman and Rita Lear attending, The State officers updated the area courts about the duties of the local officers and awarded certificates for the Circle of Love categories.
The next meeting will be September 27 beginning with rosary at 5PM.
