Court Queen of Peace achieved an unusual fete by holding their October meeting in a “never before place”, Stonegate Apple Orchard. Twenty-five members gathered on October 23, 2025 beginning with flag pledge and prayer followed by secretary and treasurer’s reports. A Thank-You note was received from Father Peter Schuster for the memorial for his mother. The memorial gift has been forwarded to Hospice of Murray County. Barb Minnehan reported 64 members. Jeaneen Nelson, having moved to Marshall, will have dual membership with both Marshall and Slayton courts.
Jan Bryan, Legislative chair spoke about 1st amendment religious freedom, Christian Nationalism and Christian faith. She also read Pope Leo’s criticism of ‘economies that marginalize the poor‘. Jill McCord reported that we are supporting 4 seminarians which includes one from our area, Joshua Bartosh.
A Thank You was given to Rita Lear and Kim Konkol for representing Catholic Daughters at the American Legion table tour event. Gummi Bear donations were successful with all of them gone. Baskets and cards are needed for the Christmas baskets that will be distributed in December.
There was discussion about how to support the Faith Formation Director, Diann Timmerman by helping with meals for the students. The choices were a donation of money, donation of food for an evening meal or donation of food or money for the upcoming beef commercial meal. The decision was tabled until the next meeting on THURSDAY, November 20. The meal will be provided by Marilou Christensen and Sharon McClure.
At the conclusion of the meeting everyone enjoyed apple pie, ice cream and a new treat for some, cheese.
