COURT QUEEN OF PEACE

Court Queen of Peace met Tuesday, Sept. 28 beginning with Mass followed by a light supper for 16 members served by Jill McCord, Karen Juenemann and their committee. Father Thien Nguyen led the opening prayer after which the secretary and treasurer’s reports were read. Jean Eich, financial secretary, has sent letters to the 10 members who still owe dues but has not had a response yet.

Jeaneen Nelson read correspondence from the museum with notification about tree decorating at the Dinehart-Holt House, from the state officers thanking the court for their attendance at the summer Workshop in Pipestone and from Margaret Slinger family. Lee Crowley, Support Our Seminarians (SOS) chair had a note from Isiah Olsem thanking us for the prayers and monetary support. Betty Palmer, Gummi Bear chair, will offer gummi bears after Mass on Oct. 16 while Amy Kathman and Marcie Cowan will take donations in Lake Wilson and Iona respectively on Oct. 17.

Joyce Risacher, Rita Lear, Marcie Cowan, Jill McCord, Judy Carlson, LaRue Robinson and Joann Halbur were thanked for providing food and serving at the Confirmation retreat for Confirmanties and their sponsors. Confirmation will be on Oct. 10 at which time the Tri-Parish students will receive key chairs from our court. Barb Neilson was thanked for the beautiful cards she makes for the court not only for Confirmation but for many occasions. Bars and a drink will be served after Confirmation. Several members volunteered to bring bars and serve.

CDA provides Meals on Wheels the week of Sept. 27 to Oct. 1. Joyce Risacher asked for volunteers to help on those days.

The officers met to set up the budget. A motion was made to raise dues to $20 plus $2 to Support a Child if the member chooses to do so.

The summer workshop put emphasis on getting new members with incentive for a reduction in state dues if certain criteria is met for this year and year 2022-2023.

Marcie Cowan, Faith Formation for the Tri-Parish is offering Swords and Serpents Study and passed a sign up sheet. She also spoke about the Faith Formation Board asking individuals or groups to furnish meals for the high school students on Wed, nights.

After more than a year off JCDA is making plans to revitalize.

The audit committee will be meeting to audit the books before the Nov. 1 deadline.

Father Thien Nguyen spoke of the International Eucharistic Conference in Budapest referencing the fact that Jesus performed miracles and that miracles are still being performed if we let God work in us.

Next meeting is October 26 after the 5 PM Mass.
