JOYCE WIEKERAAD, ACE PROGRAM MANAGER
he Murray County Dementia Awareness Network (MCDAN) is a community-based group formed by residents who share a passion for helping and educating others about dementia. The group works to support loved ones who care for individuals living with the disease, while also advocating for greater understanding within the community.
MCDAN’s mission is to create community awareness about dementia and to support people living with the disease, as well as those whose lives are touched by it. We would like to introduce ourselves to others in Murray County and share the resources we offer, including counseling, family meetings, and support for caregivers. Through education, outreach, and connection, MCDAN supports individuals living with dementia and the caregivers and families who walk alongside them. We have several resources to help you navigate through these challenging times.
If you are caring for someone - whether it be a loved one, a spouse, a friend or a neighbor - we can walk with you through that journey. We hold a virtual Support Group via Zoom on the second Monday evening of the month, so you don’t have to leave your loved one alone. If you are not familiar with Zoom, I can help you get setup either on your computer or smart phone.
