The Murray County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, November 15, 2022. The first item on the agenda was the appointment of Jay Takle as a member of the Cottonwood-Middle MN Advisory board. Commissioner Lori Gunnink serves as the County representative on that board.
Environmental Administrator Jean Christoffels received the approval of the Commissioners to spend $14,400 budgeted for a Capacity Grant matching funds. The original landowner backed out of a project allowing expenditure of the funds to a dam repair in Chanarambie Township on Glen Talsma’s land. The grant funds have been made available each year in the same amount since 2019.
The replacement of the Lime Lake dam is proceeding with the setting of December 20 as the date to open bids on the project. The replacement of the dam with Rock Arch Rapids is estimated to fall under the $400,000 cost that had been budgeted. The bridge has been removed and will not be replaced through this project.
Work will be completed by the end of 2023.
Auditor Treasurer Heidi Winter presented an ARPA Committee approved expense of $3400 to insure the warranty on the Courts Building roof.
There is a 30 year warranty on that roof. Winter also presented two new accounting policies reflecting the process for Federal County’s members will be Dennis Welgraven, Lori Gunnink and Molly Malone. Malone was elected as Chair of the Board. Commissioners Crowley and Anderson will represent Lyon County.
Ditch Inspector Travis Radke presented six ditch repair petitions: CD 67, JD 14,CD 82, two on JD 09 and CD 43. The repairs were approved with the exception of CD 43. A engineer will be consulted to determine how the hydrology of the system can be restored.
Economic Development Coordinator Justine Wettschreck requested the transfer of $48,281.90 of funds to the EDA Special Project account from the General Account. The funds are slated for use in a proposed rental/redevelopment project being discussed. The project will provide matching funds for improvements to rental properties within the County. A low rate of interest will be charged as encouragement to maintain rental stock.
Human Resources Director Ronda Radke introduced McKenna Schreier as the newly hired Extension Support Staff. Tessa Risacher has been hired as the regular Part Time License Center Clerk beginning November 16.
Parks Director Justin Hoffman has requested the purchase of a Bobcat Skid Loader budgeted for 2023 at a cost of $22,743.68. If ordered at this time, the loader will be delivered by the end of 2023.
Commissioner Thiner and County Administrator Carolyn McDonald were appointed as delegates to the MN Counties Intergovernmental Trust. Mc-Donald replaces former Administrator Thomas Burke.
