The City of Slayton is ramping up efforts to comply with a Minnesota Department of Health and EPA requirement to identify the materials used in water service lines throughout the community. To expedite this crucial process, City staff and the City’s engineering consultant, DGR Engineering, will be conducting door-to-door inspections starting the week of July 29th.
To avoid a door-to-door visit, City residents and facility managers are encouraged to selfreport service line materials by participating in a brief online a survey, which can be found at https://www.surveymonkey. com/r/SlaytonLSLInventory, or you can scan the QR code below with a smartphone to start the survey.
Water service-line materials can be field-verified by observing the material of the water pipe coming into a building attached to the building’s water meter. Water meters are typically found in the basement or crawl space of the building. Detailed instructions are included in the online survey.
If you are unable to locate your service line, have difficulty identifying the material, or have any question about the process, please contact Public Works Director, Weston Mahon at 507-836-6940 for assistance.
