The Chandler American Legion Auxiliary met on Wednesday, March 18th.
The meeting opened in usual form with President Patsy Buys presiding. The chaplain gave the opening prayer. The Auxiliary sang the “National Anthem” and recited the Pledge of Allegiance. The members held a moment of silence in memory of our deceased members and veterans. The Auxiliary then recited the Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion Auxiliary. The meeting continued with the reading of the minutes, also the treasurer’s report was given and approved.
Patsy read information about the Gift Shop which is located at the Luverne Veterans Home. Patsy reported that she and LeRoy had attended the Veterans Day program held at the Slayton gym last November.
The Auxiliary received Congratulations on our membership, which is now 27 members. It was planned that a few members would meet to fill out the yearly reports.
Discussion was held about getting rid of a few pieces of health equipment that was in need of repairs. The Auxiliary still owns many pieces of equipment and the public is welcome to use these items at any time.
Patsy reported that she has many slips from Hank’s Grocery that she will contribute to a school.
She also read an article about Brain Science, helping towards violence, a meeting was to be held in St. Cloud.
With no further business, the chaplain gave the closing prayer. The Auxiliary then sang “America”.
Bingo was played honoring the Legion’s birthday followed by a delicioius lunch.
The next meeting is to be held on Tuesday, April 21, at 1:30 pm. Patsy and Linda Stevens are hostesses.
