CHANDLER AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY

The Chandler American Legion Auxiliary met on Tuesday afternoon, September 19, with President Patsy Buys presiding. Chaplain Jeri Sankey opened the meeting with devotions and prayer.

The Auxiliary sang the National Anthem, recited the Pledge of Allegiance, held a moment of silence in memory of the deceased members, then repeated the Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Roll call was taken, plus the reading of the minutes. Mavis gave the Treasurer’s Report.

Patsy continued the meeting with old business. A group of members served lunch following the visitation for Marie Van Dam.

Patsy has planned the draping of the Charter in memory of Marie to be held next May or June.

Patsy also reported that the medical equipment has been moved to the storage unit located in Chandler. A large assortment of equipment is available for anyone to use. For information call LeRoy and Patsy Buys at (507) 677-2361.

For new business, the Auxiliary voted to send $75 to the Luverne Veterans Home to be used for holiday treats.

The 2nd District President is Kollett Kaehlert. Her symbol is “Helping Hands.” Her theme is “Sering those who served our country.” Her project is raising funds for 133 County Veterans Service offices in the 2nd District.

The State Department President is Sharon Cross. Her project is purchasing two player pianos to be placed in two Veterans Homes. There are three new Veterans homes built in Minnesota. The Veterans Homes offer Christmas gifts to be chosen by the Veterans to be given to their families. Funds from the “Gift Shop” and the $5 Bill Shower are given to all the Veterans homes in the State of Minnesota.

Patsy urged members to save “box tops for education.” She donated one “loaf for learning” and seven Hank’s slips.

A “thank you” was received from the Marie Van Dam familiy. Several members viewed the Vietnam Wall that was on display during the Murray County Fair.

The meeting closed with a prayer and the singing of America. Arlene Post served lunch. The next meeting is Tuesday, October 17 at 1:30pm at the CommunitY Center. Audry and Linda are hostesses.
