CHANDLER AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY

The Chandler American Legion & auxiliary met on Tuesday afternoon May 16 with President Patsy Buys presiding. Jeri Sankey gave the opening devotions. A moment of silence was held in remembering our departed members and our Veterans. The group recited the Pledge of Allegiance and also sang the National Anthem. The auxiliary recited the Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion Auxiliary. After roll call and the reading of the minutes, Mavis Kruisselbrink gave the Treas. report.

For new business, it was decided to have a flag burning ceremony, to be held on Tuesday Evening June 20th at 7:30 pm at the chandler park. Anyone wishing to donate old and used flags are welcome to do so. Everyone is invited to attend. Coffee will be served following the burning of the flags. For further business, Mary & Patsy planned Poppy Day. The Auxiliary would like to extend a big “Thank You” to the students that distributed poppies. Also, a “Thank-You” to Leona Talsma for helping. “Thank-You” to everyone that contributed to the Poppy Fund. Jennet Mollema and her grandson also distributed poppies in Marshall. These funds will be donated to several different Veteran’s projects this coming year. Also, the Legion and Auxiliary would like to “thank” everyone that attended the Memorial Day program.

Patsy donated 4 Hanks grocery slips and 6 “loaves of learning” to a local school. The meeting closed with Jeri giving the closing prayer and the Auxiliary sang “America the Beautiful” Linda and Patsy were hostesses.

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday evening at 6:30 pm at the Chandler Park. Following the meeting the flag burning ceremony will be held at 7:30 pm.

Everyone is invited to attend. Bring your old flags, they will be burned in the proper way. Mary Van Eck is hostess.
