Generous people across Murray County are raising bail to benefit our youngest citizens. The Early Childhood Initiative’s Jail & Bail fundraiser will take place on the courthouse lawn the opening day of the Murray County Fair on Wednesday, August 18 from 2-7 p.m. Our 2021 “inmates” include Slayton Police Chief Jeremy Steinle, Murray County Central School Superintendent Joe Meyer, Fulda Public School Superintendent Loy Woelber, Murray County Medical Center CEO Luke Schryvers, Brandon Winter representing Jacobson & Bergerson PLLP, the Presbyterian Women group from The First Presbyterian Church of Slayton, Trish Grieme on behalf of the Slayton Public Library, Currie State Bank, Dana Gunnink representing State Bank of Chandler, Kim Holm & Riley Engbath, David Hollis, Westin Kruger, BR Heronimus, Dane Hanson, Kane & Max Mathiason, Marilyn Carlson, Josh Malchow, and Krista Keller. Nate Wieneke, the MCC Football Team, and the MCC Volleyball Team will also go behind bars to represent MCC Schools. Additional volunteers are being added to this list daily, and the Murray County ECI would love to hear from you!
If you or someone you know would like to join these generous jailbirds or give a tax deductible donation, please call Marie Paulzine at 507-360-2307, Marilyn Carlson at 507-360-9721, or email murraycountyeci@gmail.com. To arrange a surprise “arrest” for family, friends, or coworkers by the Slayton Police Department, you will need to make a $25 donation to the Early Childhood Initiative and contact Marie or Marilyn to discuss the “criminal details.”
Murray County ECI greatly appreciates the many generous individuals who have volunteered and made donations through the years. Our county is a better place for children and families because our communities care!
