By Mark Zinnel- Buttermaker Reporter The Buttermakers had a successful home opener as they had no problem with the young Fox Lake squad. Here is the game recap:
HADLEY 15 FOX LAKE 1 – 7 innings
A good-sized crowd was in attendance for the Buttermaker home opener on a gorgeous Mother’s Day afternoon. Tucker Sorenson started on the mound for the Buttermakers and kept the Foxes befuddled the entire game.
Hadley would score 4 runs in the 2nd for a quick 4-0 lead. Dylan Kluis would plate two Buttermakers on a single to right field and Dylan would end up on 3rd base after the ball would get by the right fielder and roll to the fence. The game would stay that way until the 4th. Fox Lake would pick up their first hits off Tucker when they hit back-to-back doubles to cut the Buttermaker’s lead to 4-1.
Hadley would break open the game in the 5th inning when they scored 7 times on 6 hits; batting 12 Buttermaker’s; forcing a Fox Lake pitching change. Danny Blankenship would hit a bases clearing double to begin the scoring in the inning. Hadley would end their scoring in the 6th inning when they scored their final 4 runs thanks to a bases cleating double form Alex Petersen. A Fox Lake fielding error accounted for Hadley’s final run.
Tucker Sorenson would only give up 2 hits to the Foxes while striking out 14 Fox batters in his 5 innings of work. Bryce Ahrendt and Owen Gillete pitched the final 2 innings for Hadley.
Dylan Kluis had a good day at the plate for the Buttermakers. Dylan would collect 3 hits and 3 RBIs. Alex Petersen and Danny Blankenship each had 2 hits and 4 RBIs. Derek Kluis had 2 hits and an RBI, Joe Larson had 1 hit and 2 RBIs with Jakob Olson getting Hadley’s other hit.

Hadley will travel to Luverne on Friday, May 22 at 7:30 to take on the Redbirds and then go to Worthington on Sunday, May 24th to take on the Cubs. Hadley’s next home game is on May 31st when they face the Milroy Yankees and the Fairmont Martins in a Sunday double-header.
