BUTTERMAKERS STAY UNBEATEN

It is early in the season, but the Hadley Buttermakers remain unbeaten in league play as they took care of the Pipestone A’s on Sunday as they beat their rivals to the west 5-1. Hadley’s Wednesday night game with Milroy was rescheduled to a later date. Here is Sunday’s game recap:

Sam Erickson would start on the mound for Hadley against the A’s. Sam came out strong as he would limit the A’s to just 3 hits through the first 4 innings. The Pipestone starting pitcher would keep Hadley scoreless until the 3rd inning.

In the 3rd, Hadley would score three time to go up 3-0. Hadley would pick up 4 hits in the inning. The Pipestone defense would commit two errors which assisted in the Buttermaker scoring. Hadley would expand the lead to 5-0 in the 4th inning after Nick Bruning sent a ball over the left field fence for a 2-run homerun.

Pipestone would get on the board in the 5th inning. A leadoff walk would come around to score on a double. Hadley would load the bases in their at bat in the 5th with no outs resulting in a Pipestone pitching change. The A’s reliever would do his job and keep Hadley from scoring.

Pipestone’s last scoring opportunity came in the 6th when they would put runners on 2nd and 3rd, but Sam Erickson would wiggle his way out of trouble to keep the score at 5-1.

Sam Erickson would record the first out in the 9th before Avery Weber would be brought in to end the game. Avery would record the final 2 outs for the Buttermaker 5-1 victory.

Sam Erickson would get the win for Hadley. Sam Erickson had a good game on the mound as he would record 11 strikeouts and walk only 2 A’s batters. Eric Wieneke and Alex Petersen would lead Hadley in hits with 3 each. Nick Bruning would add 2 hits with Joe Larson, Max Zwart, Danny Blankenship, Trent Carlson, and Justin Benda chipping in with 1 hit each.

Nick Bruning led the team with 2 rbis. Max Zwart, Danny Blankenship, and Alex Petersen would each get credited with 1 rbi.

Hadley’s will travel to Luverne on Wednesday to take on the Redbirds and return home on Memorial Day, Monday afternoon to take on the Adrian A’s at 2:00 pm.
