By Mark Zinnel - Buttermaker Reporter The Hadley Buttermakers went 1-1 for the week. Sunday’s game versus the Windom Pirates was postponed due to pre-game showers that made the field unplayable. Make-up date for the game is yet to be determined. Here is the week’s recap: Memorial Day HADLEY 13 HERON LAKE 6 On a windy Memorial Day afternoon, amidst intermittent rain showers, Hadley took on The Heron Lake Lakers in their annual Memorial Day game. Avery Weber started the game on the mound for Hadley.
Hadley started out of the gate fast as they scored three times on 4 hits in the first inning. Tucker Sorenson and Evan Lenz led the game off with back-to-back doubles. Brent Hokeness and Danny Blankenship would follow with run scoring singles. Avery Weber would hold Heron Lake to just one hit and 1 run in his 5 innings of work. Heron Lake’s only hit off Weber occurred in the 3rd. Heron Lake’s run scored on a Buttermaker error. Hadley would get the run back in the bottom of the inning on a Danny Blankenship sacrifice fly to go up 4-1.
Hadley would stretch their lead to 7-1 when they scored three times in the 5th inning.
Skyler Feikema came into relieve Weber in the 6th and would pitch 2 innings. Heron Lake would pick up 2 runs off Feikema on 4 walks and a single in the 6th to pull within 7-3.
