By Mark Zinnel, Buttermaker Reporter The Hadley Buttermakers evened their record to 2-2 after splitting a pair of games over the week. Here is the game update:
Milroy Shutouts Buttermakers
Hadley travelled to Milroy for their first Wednesday night league game of the young season to take on the Irish. Both teams had short benches with many normal starters absent so neither manager knew to expect. Jacob Van Dam made his first appearance of the season for the Buttermakers. Both starting pitchers were stingy allowing hits through the first four innings, with each allowing only one hit.
Hadley would threaten to score in the 2nd inning. Alex Petersen would lead-off by walking. Trent Carlson would hit a line drive down the left field line for a double. Avery Weber would hit a ground ball to 3rd base. With the contact play in affect, Alex Petersen would get tagged out after getting in a rundown. Two Buttermaker strikeouts would follow to end Hadley’s scoring opportunity. Milroy would put a runner on 2nd base in the bottom of the inning, but Jacob Van Dam get out of the inning unscathed. Avery Weber would lead-off with a double in the 5th, but Hadley would fail to move Avery around It seems that when Milroy and Hadley match-up, a critical error during the game that sets the tone for the game outcome. Unfortunately for Hadley, the Emonster came into play in the bottom of the 5th. Milroy would get a leadoff single off Van Dam. The next Irish batter would hit a soft line drive up the middle that would be dropped by Alex Petersen. A walk would follow to load the bases. The next Irish batter would hit a ground ball to Peyton Coulter at 3rd that would get under his glove scoring two Irish runners. The relay throw came back to the infield. Alex Petersen retrieved the relay and tried to pick the runner at 3rd taking a wide turn, but Alex’s throw would be off the mark allowing the runner to score. A single would follow resulting with Hadley in a 4-0 deficit.
Milroy would tack on 5 more runs in the 6th; helped again by another costly Buttermaker fielding error. The Milroy relievers would shut down the Buttermakers bats the final 3 innings for a 9-0 Milroy victory.
Hadley would only get 4 hits in the 9-inning affair. Besides hits by Carlson and Weber, Tucker Sorenson and Jeremy Steinle picked up Hadley’s other hits.
Jacob Van Dam was charged with the loss. Avery Weber and Trent Carlson show mound action for Hadley

Buttermakers Take Care of Mudhens
Hadley traveled to Minneota on Memorial Day to take on the Mudhens in an exhibition game. Peyton Coulter made his first start on the mound for Hadley to face the Mudhen squad.
Minneota would score first in the 1st inning to take a quick 1-0 lead. Hadley would come storming back in the 2nd inning to score 5 runs to take a 5-1 lead. The big hit in the Buttermaker scoring came from Brent Hokeness on a bases loaded 3-run triple. Minneota would close the score to 5-3 after scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the 2nd.
The game would go back and forth the next two innings. Hadley would pick up a run in the 3rd on a single from Brody Wixon; scoring Alex Petersen who had doubled to start the inning. Minneota countered with a run of their own. In the 4th Hadley would score 2 more runs on a wild pitch and another run scoring single from Brody Wixon. Minneota would score 2 runs in their at bat to keep the Hadley 2-run advantage at 8-6 The game would stay that way until the 6th when Hadley would add a run on a single by Kyler Deacon. Hadley would add another solo run in the 7th when Tucker Sorenson would come around to score on a Mudhen wild pitch after doubling to start the inning. Minneota would try to make a comeback when they scored 2 runs off Avery Weber to cut Hadley’s lead to 10-8. Hadley would commit 2 fielding errors to contribute to the Mudhen scoring.
Hadley would put insurance runs on the board in the 8th. Tucker Sorenson would bring in two on a double and Alex Petersen would single to score two more runs with the bases loaded to go up 14-8 Tucker Sorenson and Max Zwart would put down the Mudhens 1-2-3 in the 8th and 9th inning to seal the Buttermaker victory.
Kyler Deacon and Brody Wixon led Hadley hitting with 4 and 3 hits, respectively. Tucker Sorenson and Alex Petersen would add 2 hits each with Joe Larson, Max Zwart and Brent Hokeness each adding 1 hit. Brent Hokeness would get credit for 3 rbis, Brody Wixon, Tucker Sorenson and Alex Petersen would tally 2 rbis each and Joe Larson, Max Zwart and Kyler Deacon each picked up 1 rbi. Peyton Coulter earned the victory.
