By Mark Zinnel - Buttermaker Reporter The Hadley Buttermakers were back in action after being rained out by Mother Nature the previous week. Hadley was back on the road when they traveled to Pipestone to battle the A’s on Sunday to take on the A’s. Sam Erickson would start on the mound for Hadley.
Pipestone would put two runners on base in the bottom of the 1st, but Sam Erickson would keep the A’s of the board. Hadley would score in the 2nd inning. Eric Wienecke would lead-off with a double. Danny Blankenship would single moving Wieneke to 3rd. Alex Petersen would walk to load the bases. Brent Hokeness would then deliver a single to score Wieneke. A fielder’s choice would score Blankenship for a 2-0 Hadley lead. Hadley would load the bases in the 3rd but fail to add to their lead.
In the 4th, Pipestone put runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs. Sam Erickson would get a strikeout and then get a fly ball to Hokeness in rightfield. The Pipestone runner would tag up to score but Hokeness’ throw to Trent Carlson at the plate was on target for the 3rd out.
Pipestone would get a run in the 5th on a lead-off homerun. Hadley would add a run in the 6th after loading the bases on a hit two walks. Austin Irlbeck would hit a foul ball flyout to the A’s left fielder. The ball would be dropped for the 3rd out. Irlbeck would then walk to force in a run; but a strikeout would end any further damage with only a 3-1 Hadley lead. Tucker Sorenson would replace Sam Erickson on the mound in the 6th. Hadley would pick up insurance runs in the 7th. Hadley would load the bases on 2 walks and a single. A passed ball would bring in Eric Wieneke. Danny Blankenship would then steal home while the pitcher was walking back to the mound and beat the tag at the plate. A single by Kyler Deacon would score another run for Hadley but Brent Hokeness would be thrown out at 3rd base trying to advance. Joe Larson would double to score Deacon and a 7-1 Hadley lead.
Tucker Sorensen had some wildness in his Buttermaker debut, but he would keep Pipestone off the boards by allowing only 1 hit and recording 6 strikeouts.
Danny Blankenship led Hadley going 4-5 at the plate. Kyler Deacon, Joe Larson, Eric Wieneke, Brent Hokeness, Max Zwart and Alex Petersen each had 1 hit. Kyler Deacon would pick up 2 rbis, with Joe Larson, Austin Irlbeck and Brent Hokeness getting with a rbi. Sam Erickson earned the victory with Tucker Sorenson earning a save. Hadley’s record now is 1-1.

The Buttermakers will then face the Minneota Mudhens on Memorial Day in Minneota. On June 2nd, Hadley will travel to Springfield and then to Fox Lake and Fairmont on June 4th. Home opener set for Sunday June 11th.
