By Joanne Bergman The Murray County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 with all members present. There were no conflicts of interest identified. The only addition to the agenda was discussion of a letter from the DNR received by Commissioner Gunnink.

Zoning Administrator Jean Christoffels presented the preliminary plat for Autumn Blaze Estates First Addition. An outlot is Section 35, Lake Sarah Township, was approved as a residential lot with one restriction that building will only be allowed 150 ft from the west property line. The remaining portion of the lot is to remain as open space with no development allowed.

Sheriff Heath Landsman received approval to purchase two chairs for his dispatchers at a total cost of $4,613.65. The cost was justified as the chairs are in use 24 hours a day. Funds will come from the 911 grant monies. The department’s 2015 Ram pickup was declared as surplus property and will be advertised on govdeals.com. Landsman and Commissioner Gunnink shared the minutes of the November 30,2022 meeting of the Buffalo Ridge Drug and Violent Crime Task Force. There were 49 new cases in the third quarter, 15 people were arrested for 5th degree Possession of which 12 were for meth. It was noted that Fentanyl is starting to come into the area. There was one overdose in the previous weekend. There were two gun seizures. Murray County will be reimbursed over $14,000 for personnel provided to the taskforce with an additional $25,000 reimbursed for the pickup purchased for use of the taskforce.

The DNR has agreed to allow the level of a road in Ellsborough Township to be raised to alleviate flooding of that road. Commissioner Gunnink will be working with the interested parties to accomplish a solution.
