April 24 Adrian-Ellsworth at MCC

The Murray County Central Baseball team changed up their schedule last week due to weather. The Rebels played Monday against RTR, on Tuesday the Rebels moved up their game with Edgerton/SWC to take advantage of the great weather day. The Rebels would then play Friday against Adrian Ellsworth to finish the week. The Dragons were throwing their top pitcher in Mathew Geister and the Rebels countered with Senior Teague Meyer. It was a well-played game that allowed the Rebels to pick up their fourth shutout in a row.

The two teams played a great game that was very even. Each had an error and a hit batter, the Dragons had 4 hits while the Rebels had 3. The Rebels were walked 3 times and the Dragons took 2 walks.

MCC scored first as Tristan Behrends doubled with one out in the first inning. Carson Lewis singled later in the inning with two outs, driving in Behrends. In the bottom of the 6th inning Dugan Kluis got hit by a pitch to open the inning and Krew Schneider hammered a tworun homer to left field to put the Rebels up 3-0.

The Dragons got a hit, walk, and hit by pitch in the top of the second inning but failed to score after a runner was out at the plate trying to score. It was the best chance the Dragons had to score as the Rebels’ defense was sharp and Teague Meyer was throwing strikes. The Rebels remain undefeated on the season now at 8-0.

The Rebels offense was held to 3 hits in the game but each one was big. Behrends double led to a run that was driven in by Lewis. The other hit by Schneider was a two-run home run. Teague Meyer was terrific on the mound, allowing 4 hits, 2 walks, 1 hit batter, and 10 strikeouts. Mathew Geister threw a good game for the Dragons, striking out 7 and walking just 3 but the 3 runs would hold up for the Rebels. MCC is scheduled to play RTR and TMB Monday and Tuesday.

April 28 MCC at TMB

The MCC Rebel Baseball team was in action on Tuesday, finally playing against the TMB Panthers after having to reschedule the game several times. The MCC Rebels kept their undefeated record and, although it wasn’t easy, the Rebels were able to come through.

The Rebels and Panthers played on a soft field Tuesday due to the rains from the previous three days. That caused some problems on defense for both teams as they combined for 10 errors, with MCC finishing with 6 and the Panthers with 4.

Krew Schneider was on the mound for the Rebels and the junior allowed just one hit in six and two thirds innings. Schneider walked 4 but did strikeout 8. The errors the Rebels committed did cost them as the Panthers were able to score single runs in the 5th and 7th innings. Conner Lanoue had one of the two hits for the Panthers in the game.

The Rebels took the lead in the top of the third inning. MCC would score four runs. The first two runs came on a bases loaded error by the Panthers. Carson Lewis singled, driving in a pair of runs and putting the Rebels ahead. The Rebels added two more runs in the top of the fifth inning. Krew Schneider singled in Teague Meyer, and Carson Lewis came through with a hit to drive in another. MCC picked up the win 6-2.

The Rebels gave up two runs for the first time this season. The Rebels allowed just two hits and zero earned runs. That said, the Rebels struggled on the defensive side of the ball even though they came through with the win. Krew Schneider picked up the win on the mound while Conner Lanoue took the loss. Tristan Behrends had two hits for the Rebels scoring 1 run while Carson Lewis had two hits and 3 RBI’s. The Rebels are now 9-0 on the season with a game at home against HLOF on Thursday.
