BOB NANGLE RELAYS

The Rebel track and field teams traveled to Pipestone on Tuesday, April 30th to participate in the running of the Bob Nangle Relays. The meet is named in memory of long time Pipestone teacher and coach, Bob Nangle.

After a 45 minute rain shower, it turned out to be a beautiful night for a track meet. In the sprint events, Brylei Schreier and Anikan Larson continue to perform at a high level. Schreier placed second in the 200 and third in the 400 while Larson was fifth in the 100 and 6th in the 400, running that event for the first time in his career. Eighth grader Reese Gilbertson, putting in many impressive performances over the course of the season, placed eighth in the girls 400. Junior Andrew Holm placed ninth in the boys 400. Hurdler Carter Knakmuhs was seventh in the 110 hurdles while Lindsey Hause was seventh in the 300 hurdles.

In the distance events, Sophia Nelson was runner up in the 800 for the girls while the boys placed three in the 2 mile (Wesley Hause 4th, Tyler Reith 5th, and Walker Biren 8th).

The girls 4x200 relay team of Brealyn Damm, Jayda Hellewell, Abby Overman and Brylei Schreier placed second out of the ten teams running. Both genders’ 4x400 team placed 6th. The girls team members were Lily Daniels, Hause, Damm and Nelson while the boys team consisted of Alex Betz, Beckett Stelter, Hudson Schyrvers and Carson Englekes. Henry Carlson joined Betz, Stelter and Schryvers in the 4x800 placing sixth for the boys. Holland Vogel ran with Daniels, Hause and Nelson on the girls 4x800 team where they placed fifth.

In the field events, pole vaulters Luke Iverson and Chloe Kremer placed fourth and eighth. Brealyn Damm was third in the girls long jump, coming short of second place by just a quarter inch. Girl triple jumpers Jayda Hellewell and Abby Overman went 2-3 while boys Andrew Holm and Carter Knakmuhs placed 6th and 9th. Lindsey Hause tied for third in the high and Callie Platt was seventh in the discus Track Host Unique Rebel Relays In 2020, the MCC coaching staff thought it would be fun to put on a true “relay” meet where all events are based on team performance. Unfortunately, that season was canceled and the 2021 season had many restrictions. In 2022, their vision became a reality. While still having the traditional 4x100, 4x200, 4x400, and 4x800 relays this meet included many seldom ran running events. Those events include the sprint medley relay (200200-400-800), distance medley (400-400-800-1600), Rudy relay (100-200-300-400) and a co-ed hurdle shuttle relay.
