BEHIND THE SCENES ACTION KEEPS WONDER WORLD PRESCHOOL BUSY

Wonder World Preschool is keeping busy behind the scenes as they work toward raising funds for a new building.

A capital improvement plan is in the works but not quite ready to launch. For those who want to donate toward the project in 2024, there is a Wonder World Relocation Savings Account set up at Minnwest Bank. Bring in a receipt of your donation to Wonder World or email kyla.buldhaupt@wonderworldpreschool.org to receive your charitable giving receipt.

Wonder World has contracted with EAPC Architects and Engineering to work on code compliant design elements for their building plan. They have also been meeting with individuals and groups in the area, making connections that can assist them with support throughout the relocation project. Creating partnerships and deciding what donor recognition, overall funding goals and campaign duration will be is ongoing.

Preliminary estimates on the building project came in at $3.5 million, but in working with EAPC, Wonder World is hoping to get that cost down and have more accurate estimates on the project cost. Roughly $228,000 will come from Tax Increment Financing funds, with $750,000 coming from Murray County and $100,000 from Murray County Economic Development Authority. This leaves another $2.4 million that needs to be raised, but grants are being applied for throughout the process. Results from a DEED Childcare grant are expected in late November.

While fundraising is important for a building project, business as usual at the current facility is still moving forward. The fall fundraiser netted approximately $4,000, which will go toward updated furniture and play items. Just around the corner is the annual Breakfast with Santa at the 4-H Building on the Murray County Fairgrounds. This event takes place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and includes breakfast, photos with Santa, kid-friendly activities and more.
