AVOCA – After a hiatus of almost two decades, Avoca Fun in the Sun, a festival in the city of Avoca, is making a return. Mark your calendars for June 22-23!
The festival will include volleyball, bean bags, kickball, kids’ games, a car roll in, a street dance, a picnic in the city park and more. The Fun in the Sun (FITS) board is still working out details but is excited to bring a good time back to their city.
As part of the fundraising efforts, Trivia Challenge will take place every other Friday, beginning March 1 at the Avoca Bar. Teams of up to 4 people can enter for $20, and half of the pot will be paid out to the winners. The trivia contest starts at 6:30 p.m., so come early to register your team! Trivia Challenge will take place March 1, 15 and 29, April 12 and 26, and May 10.
Sponsorships for the festival are being sought to assist with fundraising. Businesses, organizations, families and individuals can sponsor FITS at $1,000 for platinum level, $500 for gold, $250 for silver, $100 for bronze and anything under $100 for supporter.
Volunteers are needed to help with various committees and events. There will be a meeting Wednesday, March 13 at 6 p.m. at Avoca Community Hall for anyone who is interested. Sign up sheets will be available at the meeting for the various committees and volunteer opportunities.
The street dance on Saturday, June 22 will feature Eclipse, a rock and country cover band out of Watertown, SD. Find out more about the band at www. sdeclipse.com.
