Pipestone County Medical Center (PCMC) has chosen Amy Nelson as their new Clinic Director. In this role, Nelson has responsibility for the direction of PCMC staff servicing clinic operations in the various aspects involving family practice, specialty, and outreach clinics

Nelson has been the Clinic Nurse Manager at PCMC since 2014. Before she arrived at PCMC, she was an RN Health Coach at Sanford Luverne Medical Center in Luverne, MN, an RN Case Manager at Good Samaritan in Pipestone, MN, and an RN Float Nurse at St. Luke’s Boise Medical Center in Boise, ID. Nelson has a BSN RN degree from South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD, and is currently pursuing an MBA in Health Care Administration from the University of Sioux Falls in Sioux Falls, SD.

Nelson’s interest in healthcare is driven by helping others. “I was drawn to the medical field so I could help people. I love the long-lasting relationships I get to build with both employees and patients. In this new role, it is important to me to make those relationships strong through trust, open communication, and patient-centeredness,” she said. “I love how my work is different each day. I am constantly challenged to look at issues from different perspectives to solve problems. I equally love working as part of a team. There’s something so empowering about achieving larger team goals than those you could ever do as an individual. It’s important to find everyone’s strengths and hone in on those to help reach those collective goals.” Nelson added.

Nelson was born in Spearfish, SD. She and her husband, Michael, currently have two children – Knox and Bergan.
