Murray County 4-H hosted a cake pops summer day camp to help youth fulfill their creativeness through food!

This day camp was held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25 at the Murray County 4-H Building, 3048 Broadway Ave, Slayton, MN. After being taught about the science of baking with rising agents, binders and the functions of sugars; kids were able to choose from six cake flavors (vanilla, chocolate, Oreo, funfetti, strawberry, and red velvet), and mix them with frosting and sculpt them. Once they were cooled down in the refrigerator, they were able to dip them into different colors of melting chocolate and design with various toppings! Sprinkles were a big hit amongst the group, but Oreo crumbles and gummy bears were close runner ups! This event was free for all to attend with 54 youth that participated, as well as 12 adult volunteers.
