This coming week will be the Murray County Fair and all its events. We can remember years past wghen the big event of the fair was what we could exhibit for prizes and then the resulting check.

By: Joanne Bergman The Murray County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. Luke Schryvers, CEO of the Murray County Medical Center presented his monthly report to the Board. The figures for June were slower, a normal month of June for the facility.

The Slayton City Council held its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday at 6:00 p.m. All council members were present.

By Crystal Reith According to Pastor Galen Spinler, he retired to go to work. After 13 years of research and development at Hormel Foods in Austin, Minnesota, Spinler retired in June 2025 to become the new pastor at Slayton United Methodist Church and Lake Wilson United Methodist Church.

Supporters of the Murray County Historical Society will remember the fanfare around the Dinehart Bears returning to the home. We are please to announce that the MCHS has recently returned another original carving back to the home.
