Kiwanis Club of Slayton has challenged the club members to collect “K” dollars. What are “K” dollars? They are dollar bills that have a “K” on the left- hand side above the serial number. These bills are collected at each club meeting and set aside in a special fund. The club recently donated $150 each to Wonderworld Daycare and Trinity Preschool from this fund. Thank you to our members for your continued commitment to support the youth in our community.

It’s time to make some magical memories with your daughter(s) — and if Dad isn’t available, no worries! Daughters are welcome to be escorted by a grandfather, uncle, or another special male figure.

Community Blood Bank is launching an urgent appeal for blood donations to ensure local patients receive the lifesaving care they need. While seasonal activities and travel plans increase during the warmer months, blood donations typically decline, creating potential shortages for area hospitals.

WORTHINGTON, MN – April 15, 2025 – Nobles Cooperative Electric announced the results of its recent elections for the cooperative’s board of directors and nominating committee. The election process began in March when ballots and informational materials were mailed to all cooperative members.

Murray County Recycling will be hosting a free E-Waste Collection to all Murray County residents Tuesdays through Fridays between April 15 and June 20. The Murray County Recycling Center, located at 1820 Erlandson Avenue in Slayton, is open 8 a.m.

Our Volunteers have various jobs. We have volunteers who serve on our board. Some of these people still work their regular jobs in addition to our Board of Directors’ duties. Thank you!!! We have Volunteers that help by feeding the birds at the house regularly so our patient can have the enjoyment to watching the birds when their families are not present. Thank you!!! We have volunteers who deliver heavier equipment to the patient’s home and pick it up again. Thank you!!! We have Volunteers who write cards for us to families and patients. Thank you!!! We have volunteers that bake for some of our events to provide refreshments to our program, Thank you!!! We have Volunteers who help with countless hours for our Fundraising events, Thank You!!! We have volunteers that hold your loved one’s hand while you are away or visit them so the family can be away for a short time. Thank you!!!

Each year, thousands of volunteers in Minnesota donate their time and energy to make their communities a better place to live. These volunteers will be among the millions across the country who will be spotlighted during National Volunteer Week, April 2026, 2025.

On April 8, 2025, Vietnam Marine Corps Veteran, Corporal, Stanley Kirlin, of Fulda was presented with a Quilt of Valor at the Avoca Community Center. The quilt is given in honor, appreciation and thanks for his service; and to bring comfort, peace and healing to the veteran.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR Dear Editor, I am once again writing to compel the County Commissioners to put Wonder World on their agenda, and to allow the money they once pledged, to be pledged again to Wonder World, so they can get started on the construction of a safe building that is close to the swimming pool, the elementary school, the park. It is the ONLY location that makes the MOST sense for the Kids! Additionally, if the County does not allow this money to be given for the benefit of Wonder World, our life in the County and the City of Slayton will change.
