March 26 Mountain Lake Dual
The Rebels competed in their first meet of the season this past Thursday at Mountain Lake Golf Club, facing off against the RRC Falcons and MLA Wolverines for a varsity triangular. The weather conditions were less than ideal, as golfers faced bitter temperatures and a steady chill while trying to shake off early-season rust. Despite the challenging elements, the Rebels showed resilience on the course and brought home some hardware to start the season on a high note.
For the boys, Kaden Landsman had a strong debut and led the Rebels with a 48. Landsman carded three pars on the day and finished in fifth place individually, setting a solid tone for the team. The rest of the varsity lineup followed closely behind, with Hunter Reese shooting a 50, Gary Plotz adding a 51, and Jett Veldhuisen rounding out the top four with a 55. The Wolverines swept the top individual honors, as Aidan Olson earned medalist honors with an impressive round of 44, while teammate Maxton Fast followed closely behind as runner- up with a 45. As a group, MCC’s boys demonstrated consistency and composure, especially given the tough playing conditions.
The competition was especially tight on the girls side. Nevaeh Ott of MLA earned medalist honors with a low score of 45. MCC was led by Lizzie Daniels and Rachael Huso, who both turned in impressive rounds of 47 to tie for second place individually alongside Reagan Pedersen of MLA. Daniels shared that she felt confident in her overall performance, while also noting that she plans to focus on improving consistency across all of her clubs as the season progresses. Natalie Einck contributed a 54 for the Rebels, and Emersyn Meyer completed the team scoring with a 66.
Several MCC players noted that the cold weather had an impact on both their physical performance and mental focus throughout the round. Even so, there was a shared sense of excitement and optimism about getting back on the course and competing again. Coaches also highlighted the team’s positive attitude and perseverance, emphasizing that early-season meets are an important opportunity to build confidence and identify areas for growth.
With a strong showing in their opening meet, the Rebels are off to a promising start this season. The team will look to build on this momentum as they continue to develop their skills, improve consistency, and compete with confidence and grit in the meets ahead.

With temperatures reaching a comfortable 70 degrees, the Rebels took full advantage of one of the nicest days of the early spring season, especially with the possibility of snowy weather looming later in the week. A slight breeze added a small challenge, but overall, conditions were ideal and spirits were high across the course.
MCC’s girls team delivered a strong performance, competing against an incomplete Coyote lineup. Rachael Huso led the way with a 46, earning individual medalist honors for the meet.
