The Murray County Central Rebels competed in their third of four varsity conference golf meets on Thursday, with both teams traveling to Tyler Golf Club. Once again, golfers battled windy and cold conditions, forcing players to stay aggressive and minimize mistakes as they worked to secure strong positions heading into the final conference meet.
On the girls side, MCC delivered an impressive performance, finishing first as a team with a score of 379. With the win, the Rebels now hold the top spot in the conference standings with a three-day total of 1,137, narrowly ahead of Russell-Tyler-Ruthton (1,142).
Rachael Huso led the Rebels with a round of 89, earning a third-place individual finish. Huso recorded three pars and a birdie during her round, continuing her consistent play this season. Natalie Einck followed closely with a 92, placing fifth overall. Elysia Korver added a 95, while Lizzie Daniels (103), Brielle Plotz (109) and Emersyn Meyer (121) rounded out the Rebels roster. Jorga Brown of Red Rock Central earned medalist honors with an 87.
On the boys side, MCC placed sixth with a team score of 389, bringing their three-day total to 1,138. Mountain Lake claimed the team title with a 329, followed by Hills-Beaver Creek (354). Mountain Lake is currently holding the top spot in the conference with a three-day total of 1,022.
Kaden Landsman paced the Rebels with an 83, finishing fourth individually. Landsman turned in a strong round highlighted by six pars and two birdies. He credited much of his success to accurate driving and consistent putting throughout the day. Jett Veldhuisen followed with a 99, while Keagan Wiekeraad (102), Hunter Reese (105), Joshua Wolske (105), and Gary Plotz (107) completed MCC’s lineup. Brayden Oakland of Mountain Lake earned medalist honors with an outstanding round of 76.
The Rebels will wrap up conference play next week at their final meet in Worthington. MCC will look to build on its recent performances and finish strong in the overall standings, with hopes of securing a conference title.
