JAMES “JIM” E. DANIELS

Jim Daniels was born on October 6, 1933, in Grant County South Dakota to Albert and Viola Quirk Daniels. He grew up in Revillo, SD and graduated from Revillo High School in 1951. On April 13, 1956, he and Mary Engelkes were married in Avoca, MN. On June 6, 1956, he enlisted in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge on March 27, 1958, he returned to Lime Creek, MN. Following his discharge, they made their home in Green Valley, Gent and Holland, MN where Jim worked for the elevator. In 1967 they moved to Slayton where Jim owned and operated Slayton Grain and Supply until selling the business in 1986. Following the sale of the elevator Jim remained on as the manager for the new owner’s until 1990 when he retired. He and Mary enjoyed spending their winters going south. June 2020 Jim moved to the Good Samaritan Society in Westbrook, MN. He passed away there on Monday, August 2, 2021, at the age of 87. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Slayton. He also was a member of the Slayton Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, and camping.

JONATH “JACK” LEWIS

Jonath “Jack” Lewis 79 of Garvin, MN passed away at the Murray County Medical Center in Slayton on Tuesday, August 3, 2021. Memorial services will be on Monday, August 9, 2021, at the United Methodist Church in Slayton at 2:00 p.m.

DEAN A. BUNDY

Dean Bundy, age 89 of Balaton, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Murray County Medical Center in Slayton. Dean Allen Bundy was born March 12, 1932 in Oelwein, Iowa to Alpha and Tempe (McCann) Bundy. He received his education from Spirit Lake High School in Spirit Lake, IA. Dean joined the Army and entered active duty during the Korean War from 1952-1954. He received his training from Fort Sill, OK, and served in Battery E, 2D, Field Artillery. He continued to serve as a member of the Garvin American Legion since 1970. Dean married Hazel Marietta Bennett on March 25, 1959. They lived and farmed around Spirit Lake and Milford, IA until 1966 when they moved to rural Balaton and continued to farm. Dean enjoyed the farming community and working outdoors on his farm. His rough exterior was visible to some, but his heart was filled with love. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He will be missed dearly and as God calls us home one by one, the chain begins to link again. He will be holding hands and hugging our loved ones already in heaven and this will be our comfort.

THEADORA E. LAFROMBOISE

Theadora E. LaFromboise of Northfield passed away at Three Links Nursing Home on July 25th, 2021 with her family by her side.

ROGER LINDSTROM

Roger Lindstrom passed peacefully in his home in Mankato, MN surrounded by his family, he was 89. Roger grew up on the family farm in rural Murray County where he attended Country School and eventually graduated from Walnut Grove High School. Roger farmed with his father after graduation. He married Shirley Joan Weidemann in 1955 and made their home on the family farm. Their union brought 5 boys into the family; Douglas (Yong), Daniel (Suzanne), Todd (Lynn), Thomas (Cindy), and Mark (Heather). Early in life Roger enjoyed hunting fishing and traveling. He was a member for more than 40 years of the Roaring Lions Motorcycle Club. Later he was a member of a Corvette Club in Sioux Falls, SD as well as one in Mankato. He married Helen O’Mallory on November 6, 2010. They made their home in Mankato, MN.

JAMES “JIM” J. LETENDRE

Jim LeTendre, longtime owner of PowerBrokers, Inc., in Sioux Falls, SD, passed away on July 28, 2021, at Ava’s House in Sioux Falls after a three-year battle with cancer. He was 57 years old.

LOIS D. BROOKS

Lois Darlene (Orvis) Brooks, 86, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Marshall, died on Monday, July 19, 2021, at the Bethany Nursing Home in Sioux Falls, SD. Lois was born on May 16, 1935, in Holly Township, Murray County, to Claude and Mabel (Muck) Orvis.

BRUCE C. WAHL

Bruce Charles Wahl, 58, of Currie, was born on June 11, 1963, in Westbrook, MN, to Harley and Jane (Carr) Wahl. He grew up in Tracy and graduated from Tracy High School. After schooling, he worked a few jobs including in the propane industry in Worthington and for a tire company in the Twin Cities. He worked on the farm for Carl Lindberg, and for almost 30 years, worked for Sweetman Sand and Gravel in Currie. Bruce was a hard worker and was particularly good at his jobs. He was a lifelong animal lover. He tamed a family of raccoons as a child and had many special pets throughout his life.

MARGARET L. KRUPA

Margaret L. Krupa, age 75 of Sauk Centre, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at her home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

Margaret Louise Johnson was born March 11, 1946 in Slayton, Minnesota to Simon and Sophie (Huge) Johnson. She was united in marriage to Ronald Krupa on January 20, 1968 in St. Francis. She worked at St. Michael’s Nursing Home in Sauk Centre for many years and then at the Sauk Centre High School from 1979 to 2003. She started out as a custodian and later as a paraprofessional.
