Delores Rachuy was born on August 13, 1931, on the family farm near Kinbrae, Minnesota to Patrick and Elsie Christensen O’Neil. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school. On December 4, 1950, she and Elgie Rachuy were married at the Immanuel American Lutheran (Pfingsten) Church rural Fulda, MN. Following their marriage they farmed near Brewster, MN until 1957 when they moved to a farm south of Slayton, MN. In 1963 they purchased the current farm outside of Slayton. Delores was a hard-working farm wife, raising chickens, pigs and other livestock as well as helping with field work. She kept a large vegetable garden canning much of it for her family and others. Elgie passed away on July 4, 2011. Delores remained on the farm until May 2018 when she became a resident of the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda. She passed away there on Monday, November 1, 2021, at the age of 90. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN and a former member of Faith Lutheran Church in Avoca. She also was a member of the Avoca American Legion Auxiliary. Delores enjoyed gardening, canning, Bingo, playing cards and yes... shopping. Family was a huge passion in Delores life. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were all blessed to call her mom, grandma, and big grandma.
