The MCC Rebel Girls were on the road Monday in Westbrook. The Rebels were blown out by the Chargers just ten days earlier in Slayton, when the Rebels scored just 13 points in the entire game. Monday night would be a different first half for the Rebels but unfortunately, the second half was very similar to the first matchup.

The Rebels played well much of the first half. in fact, the Rebels led much of the first half. Seanna Swenson scored 8 firsthalf points for the Rebels, with everything coming inside of 10 feet. Abby Overman scored 5, including a big three-point shot that gave the Rebels their biggest lead of five points. The Chargers are a tough team, which is why they lead the Red Rock Conference. The Chargers’ top two scorers started hitting shots. Izzy Klumper and Amelia Sikel combined for 21 points. WWG would finish the first half on a 10-2 run to take the halftime lead 28 to 20.

The second half started with a Seanna Swenson basket to get the Rebels within 6 points. MCC only scored 8 more points the rest of the game and Swenson would score 3 of those. Izzy Klumper scored 13 points by herself. Riley Parker, a reserve forward for the Chargers, scored 8 second-half points. The game wasn’t close in the second half, as the Chargers pulled away for a 64 to 30 victory, to remain in first place in the Red Rock Conference.

Seanna Swenson led the Rebels with 13 points and Abby Overman added 5. The Rebels didn’t have another player make more than one shot from the field. The Chargers were led by Klumper’s 24 points and Sikel added 16. The Rebels committed nearly 20 turnovers, but they only forced 8. The Rebels will host HLOF on Thursday night to complete this week’s Girls Basketball action.
