At the blow of the whistle in the first period Benda got a hold of a front headlock and Gruenes had all he could do to breath as carter with all his might tried to throw him to the mat. Gruenes would find his way out of the vice and get on top putting Benda through the gauntlet of which he was able to fend off until late in the second period where Benda found his demise in a reverse headlock. It takes courage to wrestle even more courage to leave basketball to wrestle. Even more courage to do it all in his junior year. Christian Kuball was the sole winner on the team against Gage Cyphers of Fairmont Martin County West with an 11-0 Major decision.
Fairmont Martin County West has a deep wrestling team similar to Minneota. Which is where FMCC is headed as the youth warrior wrestling team went two for two over the weekend with many young wrestlers showing off their skills in a team tournament.
