With the Murray County Fair and Remembering Our Fallen exhibit just around the corner, Slayton American Legion Post Commander Brad Pagel is looking for some help.
While the Remembering Our Fallen exhibit is in Slayton, someone needs to be present at the display the entire time, just like when the Vietnam Wall was on display several years ago.
The exhibit, which will be on the soccer fields by the fairgrounds, must have guard shifts. Pagel said there are still many open shifts.
“We are roughly two weeks out and need to get these filled ASAP,” Pagel said.
The shifts run in 4-hour increments with two people per shift. The shifts run noon to 4 pm, 4 pm to 8 pm, 8 pm to midnight, midnight to 4 am, 4 am to 8 am and 8 am to noon.
The exhibit will arrive in Slayton on Tuesday, with an escort from Fulda beginning at noon.
“Setup will start after it arrives,” Pagel said. “We could use about 15 volunteers for that and to take it down on Sunday.”
