Slayton City Council met on Tuesday, September 6th. Council Member Harmsen was absent this week. Meeting minutes were reviewed and approved. The claims for the month were also reviewed and approved. The City Hall roof project has had the second phase completed.
The Broadband Grant was discussed. The city went out for proposals. One was received from Woodstock Communications, and they will team up with Finley. Their proposal looked good and was very well received, and the project was awarded to them. The Council approved this proposal.
Moving on to new business Police Chief Jeremy Steinle requested for Officer Holden to take Intoxilyzer Training. Most training programs are full at this time and it will be next year before he probably can get in. The Council approved this cost. The City needs to have an Animal Control Official appointed to be able to properly enforce the “dangerous dog ordinance” currently in place. The Council approved appointing Jeremy to this position.
The next item was the 2022 manhole rehab project. Rehab Systems is the company they have used in the past with very good results. The cost will be $13,915. This was approved. The last item was a request from the Fire Department for purchasing voice amplifiers through a grant that they were awarded. These go into the masks that the firefighters wear. This was approved.
With no other business the meeting was adjourned.
