The MCC Rebel girls have a tough end of the season with three games left, playing teams above 500 on the season. The Rebels, on Friday, played the toughest team left on their schedule in Southwest Minnesota Christian. The Rebels were blown out by the Eagles earlier this season and Friday wasn’t much different. The Eagles are bigger, faster, and just better at this point and they proved it again. The Rebels need to show some improved play to gain some confidence heading into the playoffs.

The game was decided in the first 5 minutes, as the Rebels fell behind 16-0. The Eagles were able to out-rebound the Rebels and get the ball into the paint, where they scored at will. Offensively, the Rebels just didn’t have an answer. The Rebels did shoot 40% from the three-point line which highlights their struggles shooting, as the team shot under 30% from the field in the game. The Rebels actually made more free throws than the Eagles. MCC made 5 compared to the Eagles 4 but SWC shot 5 while MCC shot 11. There would be no comeback for the Rebels in the second half, as they would lose 66 to 27.

Mary Lou McNab led the Rebels in scoring with 8 points, while Jayda Hellewell scored 7. No one else had more than 3 points. With the Rebels making 4 three-point shots and only three players scoring three points or more, it was a onesided game. Ana Veldkamp led the Eagles with 16 points while Madyson Fey scored 12.
