Page 1 has made some changes to management. Two new senior staff members are Sheri Platt, who succeeds Sheila Walter as general manager; and Stacy Fey, who fills a new position in overall operations, overseeing pre-press and customer service, and advising in graphics, production and related areas.
Sheila Walter, manager since 2016, has accepted a position in St. Cloud, MN, as general manager of Rengal Printing, a Page 1 customer. She said the change is difficult, but at this point in her life is important, as it will allow her to be nearer her mother, daughter and brother, who live near St. Cloud.
“I leave with good feelings for Page 1 and will assist in the changeover as much as possible,” she said. “Page 1 and its customers have a special place in my heart and I will send as much business to them as I can.”
Walter joined Page 1 in the pre-press department in 2001. She later worked in customer service and operations. After leaving for 10 months in 2015, she returned as general manager in 2016.
Owners of Page 1 are sorry to see her go, but wish her well. “Sheila has made tremendous contributions to Page 1 and its customers and will be missed,” said co-owner Jim Keul. “We wish her every success and are pleased that she is helping in the transition.”
Succeeding Walter as manager is Sheri Platt of Reading, MN. Platt has combined experience as a financial analyst, HR manager and as a business development manager, working in customized printing and sales.
A native of Edgerton, MN, she has a degree in Business Management and Accounting from South Dakota State University, and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Sioux Falls.
For the past three years she has worked as a financial analyst at Sanford Medical Health of Sioux Falls. Prior to that she was HR and office manager of Quality Refrigerated Services in Worthington, working for two years with 50 to 60 employees.
She worked 10 years at Bedford Industries in Worthington. She worked on customized and specialty printed items and with the engineering department to design and build specialty machines, as well as sales. She has particular experience with flexo and digital printing.
Platt said a main reason for applying at Page 1 is that she was looking for a chance to bring growth to a company and to have a stronger leadership role. Despite joining the company at the time of the fire, she said she has already learned a lot from Walter and other employees, who have very helpful. She said she also likes Slayton.
She is looking forward to the plant resuming normal operations, so she can get out and meet customers. “Page 1 has a lot of different customers and I want to get to know them and serve them well,” she commented.
The other “new” employee is Stacy Fey. She previously worked for Page 1 and has returned In an expanded role. She began employment at Page 1 in 2003. She left in 2016 to work for Pipestone System, but returned to Page 1 in September.
“I have a passion for printing,” she explained. “I am glad for the opportunity to come back and be part of the team at Page 1.”
Fey has a degree in graphics communication and printing imaging from St. Cloud Technical College. Before coming to Page 1 she interned and was later employed at Merrill Corp. in St. Cloud. She later worked at Carlson Craft in Mankato.
She began work at Page 1 in the pre-press department, in the age of the camera and negatives so has seen many changes. In her new role she has added responsibility for the customer service and prepress departments, scheduling and overseeing and advising on production.
Fey attended high school in Edgerton. She and her husband have a beef cattle operation on a farm near Woodstock.
“We certainly welcome Sheri and Stacy to Page 1,” said Chuck Draper, co-owner of Page 1 “With their addition to the team we want to continue striving to give the quality and service our customers expect.”
While the management changes have been in process for some time, actual implementation and announcement were delayed because of a fire in the warehouse section of the plant Sept. 15 and smoke damage throughout the building. Full production is now expected to begin soon.
