Melissa Kramer is returning to the classroom as a preschool teacher after spending the past two school years substitute teaching for Fulda Public School and MCC.
Kramer became an educator because she loves working with children and wants to play an active role in educating our future generations.
“After taking two years off from full time teaching, I was ready to go back to teaching my favorite age group,” she said.
Kramer grew up in Eagan, Minnesota, and graduated from Eagan High School in 2004. She earned her bachelor’s degree in 2008 and a master’s degree in reading and literacy in 2022, both from Concordia University in St. Paul She began her teaching career at St. Paul’s Lutheran School in 2008 where she taught preschool and kindergarten through 2013. She later taught preschool, second grade and third grade in Fulda from 2016-23 and kindergarten at Worthington Christian School during the 2023-24 school year.
Kramer looks forward to bringing some new ideas and activities to the Little Rebels program.
“I hope to make the Little Rebels preschool program a place where every Slayton family would like their child to attend,” said Kramer.
“I want all of my students to know that I will do everything I can to help them be successful in school and life.”
Throughout her teaching career, she has learned the importance of being flexible and explaining activities to students.
“Plans can always change so you have to learn to adapt,” she said. “I have found that when students understand why they are doing something, they are more motivated to complete the activity.”
Kramer also emphasized the importance of building relationships with students, planning meaningful learning experiences and collaborating with colleagues.
“I learned a lot from my student teaching placements,” she said. “I have worked with some amazing educators and have gained so much teaching knowledge from them.”
Kramer and her husband, Jake, have a son, Charlie. She is grateful for the support of her family and former colleagues at St. Paul’s, Fulda and Worthington Christian School.
