The Murray County Central golfers had an impressive performance at the 2026 Class A State Golf Tournament, highlighted by a fourth-place finish for the girls team and a top-10 individual finish by senior Rachael Huso. Representing the Rebels at state were seniors Rachael Huso, Lizzie Daniels, and Elysia Korver; junior Kaden Landsman; sophomore Natalie Einck; freshman Brielle Plotz; and eighth grader Emersyn Meyer. The golfers arrived in Becker on Monday for an early morning practice round at Pebble Creek Golf Club to prepare for the challenging tournament course. A brief rain shower during the practice round provided an opportunity for players to adjust to changing conditions before competition began. The boys competed in the morning sessions while the girls teed off in the afternoon. Both tournament days featured sunny skies and excellent course conditions.
Landsman, MCC’s lone boys representative, battled through a difficult opening round. Despite striking the ball well with his woods and irons, putts were hard to come by, resulting in an opening-round score of 89. Day two brought a fresh start and a new putter, and Landsman responded with one of his strongest rounds of the season. He recorded eight pars and three birdies on his way to a 79, finishing the tournament with a two-day total of 168 and placing 59th among 88 golfers.
The MCC girls competed alongside the top teams in Class A, including defending state champion Dawson-Boyd. Despite the strong field, the Rebels posted some of their best scores of the season. Huso paced the Rebels with a two-day total of 162, earning a ninth-place finish individually. She delivered an outstanding opening round that included 11 pars, one birdie, and an eagle.
Throughout the tournament, Huso displayed remarkable composure and consistency, responding well to adversity and keeping herself among the state’s top golfers. Einck was next for MCC, finishing 27th overall with a two-day total of 177. Korver followed with a 196, while Daniels contributed a 197 to complete the Rebels’ team scoring. Plotz finished with a 209 and Meyer carded a 231, with both golfers gaining valuable experience in their first state tournament appearance.
MCC finished with a twoday team total of 732, good for fourth place in Class A. The Rebels narrowly missed a state medal, finishing just eight strokes behind third-place Badger- Greenbush-Middle River.
While disappointed to fall short of the podium, the team has much to celebrate. The Rebels improved their state tournament total by 16 strokes compared to their previous appearance and posted some of their best 18-hole scores of the season. Huso and Einck also recorded personal-best performances under the pressure of state tournament competition.
With a strong mix of returning talent and valuable experience gained this season, the future remains bright for the MCC golf program. The Rebels have much to be proud of and are already looking forward to continuing their growth and competing for another trip to the state tournament.
