By Norma Dittman Larry Haberman, Brewster, hit an ace on Hole 8 at Town and Country Golf Club, Fulda, on Wednesday, July 22nd. It was the first time that Haberman has achieved a hole-in-one. “I’ve come close before - within six to twelve inches, but never actually hit it in,” Haberman said. Haberman has been golfing since his late teens. “I attended college in Canby and my friends and I would go golfing there. We could play for free. I really enjoyed that.” During this particular golf outing on July 22nd, Haberman was using a ball once owned by his late father, William Haberman. “When dad passed away, I moved out to the farm. I was going through some of the things that are here, and I found a bucket of golf balls of Dad’s. I decided I may as well use them. He always marked them with a dot so he would know they were his.” William (fondly known as Bill) also loved to golf. He was a fixture at the Lakefield golf course for many years, achieving 3 aces during his golf career. Congratulations, Larry, on your hole-in-one!
