GREEN THUMB

This week will be the end of August. Then comes September. And it is also the traditional end of summer activities.

Then we get Labor Day. In years past the day after Labor Day was whenschool started for the kids. Some schools now start in August.

For those kids that is the end of Summer activities.

For the rest of us we have to look forward to shorter days with little evening daytime.

As for our gardening it will mean we must schedule some week-end time along with evenings for gardening activities.

Our emails remind us again and again to plant our second garden along with some plants which need time to get started before freeze up.

And soon enough it will be necessary to get the house, car, yard, and whatever else ready for winter.

It might be reasonable to make a mental or paper list of the chores needing doing and then see when they can be done.

One neighbor announced this last week they had bought a new snow blower, so they are available and our neighbor is ready.

It might be reasonable to check the local ads for needed winter items and invest when on sale.

And also get the garage cleaned out for winter storage.

And the outside plants will need to be brought back in when you have places for them.

Enough work to get done in time.

Back inside the house, care for your house plants too.

Until next week.
