By Arnold Krusemark Another week has passed. This weekend will include the first day of summer and longest day of the year. Then the days will begin their shortening.
As for your gardening a few things need mentioning.
Our family used June 15th as the last day to harvest asparagus. From then on we let whatever was left grow. The stalks were getting hard by then too.
We still get emails with garden plant closeouts. If you wish you might check the local stores to see what is still available.
Years back an acquaintance visited a hatchery with baby geese and ducks. It was the end of season there too. He made a deal - he bought whatever remained. He and the hatchery owner were both happy with the deal.
The same might happen with remaining started plants.
Otherwise your garden (and yard) now need work with hoeing and mowing. And checking to see how your produce is coming.
A few things start showing up on our dining table.
Whatever we grow always seem to taste better.
Be sure to check your house plants too.
Until next week.
