GET THE DIRT

By Kathy Schwartz, Murray County Master Gardener The best defense against weeds and pests is a dense and healthy turf.

Disinfect pots before storing. This will rid them of soil residue that may carry diseases harmful to new plantings. Soak the pot in a bucket filled with one part bleach and ten parts water. Scrub the inside and outside of the pot with a bristle brush. Allow to dry before storing to prevent mold. Prune to shape hedges for the last time this season.
