The Fulda/Murray County Central Warriors had a very busy week of wrestling again ,with a quadrangular meet Thursday the 26th, then a varsity tournament in Lamberton, followed by a 9th grade individual qualifier held in Jackson on the 28th.

Kaston Clarke started off the night for the Warriors with a cowcatcher underhook that led to a single leg take down for the first two points of the match. Logan Peterson of the TMB Panthers was unturnable as Kaston rode out the rest of the 1st period. In the 2nd period, Clarke started on bottom in referees position and as he peeled off the half, he earned his escape by sitting out, hangin on to a hand. Peterson got in on another single and scored 2 points to start the third period 3-2. In the 3rd period Clarke wasted no time earning a reversal, catching an armbar then skunking a half for the pin and 6 team points.

Kaden Landsman, wrestling at 113, fought a tough match against Troy Gillette, holding him to a major decision after 3 periods of hard fighting.

Thomas Pruitt suffered an early takedown, and nearfall against Ty Yackley of TMB. Pruitt answered with an escape with 30 seconds left in the period. The 2nd period was all Pruitt, earning a quick escape from bottom referees position and scoring a takedown he tried to return the favor with some back points, but finished the period 4-5, behind by one point. Pruitt with some momentum, went into the third period looking to score and had a good single leg tied up, but Yackley was able to defend with a takedown and a nearfall for another 5 points making his lead 11-4. Pruitt, still had some fight in him and earned an escape and one last single leg to make the final score 11-7, holding Yackley to a 3 point decision.

After quick losses at 126 and 132, Aiden Lorenzen came to the mat for the 138 bout and went to work with Damian Alatriste and scored an immediate Hi-C for a takedown. After letting Alatriste up for a restart in neutral position, it took a little bit more work, fighting the hands of Alatriste to gain another takedown with a blast double leg. With a summersault Alatriste was able to score his own points on a reversal out of a butcher by Lorenzen, but Lorenzen wouldn’t allow it, as he squirreled out of the move to score an escape at the end of the period. Going into the second period, Alatriste started in the down position and earned his escape ,fighting out of the hold of Lorenzen. Lorenzen didn’t hesitate to fight back with another single leg. After letting Alatriste up, Lorenzen got through to a double leg of his own to tie the match 7-7 going into the third period. Alatriste let Lorenzen up, giving up a point to start in neutral position and it payed off, as Alatriste got in on a takedown to get the lead 9-8. Lorenzen fought back handily, as he rolled out from underneath like he planned it and put Alatriste on his back and caught a headlock for the pin bringing the team score 1219 in favor of TMB.

After Noah Mathiowetz fell to Alex Schuh, Owen Olsem took the stage and went the distance, fighting well against Jacob Meyer, holding him to a major decision 12-0. The next couple of weights went pretty quickly, giving up pins and Carson Klein came to the mat against Gage Struchen. Klein gave up a takedown after a bit of handfighting and spent the last minute of the period fighting from bottom to not give up anymore points, and didn’t, starting the second period 2-0. In the second period, Klein had a plan. Starting from bottom, he caught the hands of Struchen, stood up and spun around for the escape. Then as Struchen went in for a takedown, Klein responded with a solid dump, catching a cradle, putting Struchen on his back and securing a pinning cradle, scored the fall for the team. Colby Kesteloot fought an onslaught of takedowns and nearfalls through three periods of fighting before losing by technical fall, saving 1 point for his team by not giving up the fall.

The 285 bout for the Warriors would be an exciting one, as Rylan Klein took to the mat with number 5 state ranked Nic Willhite. In the first period, Klein fought off the initial underhooks of Willhite, staying in good position. Willhite, with an underhook, shook Klein down and got behind, scoring a takedown and stayed on top to finish the period. Starting the 2nd period, Klein was down 2-0 and with an over and under, took Willhite to the mat and held on waiting for the pin. This was a great ending to the dual. Still losing 52-24, the Warriors are starting to hold their own a little bit against the big powerhouse of TMB.

Springfield would be the next dual for the Warriors and Kaston Clarke would be the 1st to the mat against Nathan Groebner. It took Clarke a whopping 7 seconds of handfighting to find an opening to catch a blast double leg on Groebner, scoring the initial takedown all the way to the edge of the mat where Clarke went to work right away on a pinning procedure. Clarke got the half in and coupled it with an armbar and wrestled Groebner to his back scoring the fall in 29 seconds.

A forfeit for the Tigers at 113 to Brayden Gilb brought Kaden Landsman up against Wyatt Schmidt, losing by pinfall with 30 seconds left in the 1st period. Then the Warriors would get 24 more points on 4 consecutive forfeits. Next, Owen Olsem took to the mat with Dominick Rients. Rients scored the initial takedown, but Olsem wasn’t having any of it, as he turned in and caught a cradle scoring on a reversal and a 3 point nearfall with a gator grip that wouldn’t let go. Olsem, starting the second period 5-2, let Rients up to start in neutral position. Olsem ,from an underhook position went down and caught a leg, scoring another single leg takedown, ending the period on top with a score of 7-3. The third period, Olsem, fighting for another single leg, would eventually catch it with with twenty seconds left, finishing the match with a 9-3 major.

After Carson Lewis fell to Ashtin Johnson, Luke Iverson, at 170, drew Damian Honeman. Honeman would score the initial takedown and the ever flexible and tough on bottom, Luke Iverson, refused to allow any back points and scored on a technical violation clasp. In the second period, Honeman chose to start in the neutral position and Iverson would get his offense going, fighting off a single leg with a whizzer and putting Honeman in the Witzel, holding one arm with his leg and another with his arms. Losing one arm with his leg, Iverson switched to a reverse half and held Honeman to the mat for a fall. Excellent come from behind match for Iverson, who always wrestles tough and is really starting to see the fruits of his labors.

After an excellent battle for 3 periods against Sam Rummel Colby Kesteloot, losing 2-0, just couldn’t get his scoring going, Rylan Klein took a forfeit 57-15.

The final dual of the night would come by the Luverne Cardinals and started off with another pin on the edge of the mat for Kaston Clarke against Brady Kopp, which would be his third pin of the night.

Brayden Gilb in the 113 bout, went the distance with Bernadette Rock, scoring 6 points on two takedowns and a reversal. Bernadette, being a resilient an tough wrestler, is good on her hips and Gilb just couldn’t hold her down, as she scored two reversals, a 3 period was all Ash, as he started on top and stayed on top out of the referees position, catching an armbar turning Hough, then circling his head, holding his back to the mat securing the pinfall.

After a forfeit to Aiden Lorenzen, Quintin Lewis made short work of Cameron McCrory, scoring the initial takedown with a single, then staying on top with an armbar, working for the turn, eventually skunking a half and holding for the pin, awarding the team with another 6 points, making the team score 21-6.

Noah Mathiowetz earned a forfeit at 152. Then, freshman Owen Olsem drew senior DJ Rock and fell to a pin with with 30 seconds left in the match.

Luke Iverson, wrestling up at 170, drew Cash Bonnett and scored the first takedown of the match with a crossface go-behind out of the scramble. Bonnett rolled out on Iverson, scored a reversal and two nearfalls before Iverson could work back to his base and escape, making the match score 4-3 Bonnett. The second period, with Bonnet starting down, Iverson
