The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) recently celebrated 97 schools representing 41 districts across the state for their sustained commitment to Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), including Fulda Public School. Additionally, MDE recognized nine districts for districtwide efforts. These schools and districts have demonstrated exceptional leadership in increasing student achievement, improving school climate, and engaging in the community.
PBIS is an evidence-based framework grounded in providing instruction and support for positive and cooperative behaviors, and supporting the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of all students.
For over two decades, Minnesota schools and districts have embedded PBIS into their strategy to create positive and supportive learning environments. This year’s honorees exemplify the dedication and perseverance required to implement and sustain PBIS practices over time. PBIS improves student outcomes, reduces disciplinary incidents, and increases student engagement. This recognition reflects the Walz-Flanagan Administration’s commitment to investing in education and making Minnesota the best state for kids by supporting educators as they create a welcoming learning environment for all students.
To recognize these outstanding achievements, MDE will honor the following schools and districts at the 2026 PBIS Summer Institute on Wednesday, Aug. 12 at MDE, during which presenters will share their success stories on implementing PBIS.
