The Murray County Board of Commissioners met in a short session on Tuesday, November 23, 2021. Paul Kirchner was on hand to receive a plague and the Board’s wishes for a wonderful retirement. He has been working with the highway department.
The next item of business was discussion of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health report spurred by a complaint of mold and humidity issues in the Law Enforcement Building. The report summed up the facts known to the Board of high humidity in the building during humid outside air events. It was the decision of the board at the previous meeting to move forward with replacement of the current system with a new system. Commissioner Thiner continues to argue for a change in the current method of running the system that he claims will reduce the humidity in the building.
Auditor Treasurer Heidi Winter provided printed information in regard to the preliminary budget. The Truth in Taxation Hearing is schedule for Tuesday, November 30 at 6:00 p.m. for anyone to ask questions regarding the budget. A list of appropriations for 2022 was reviewed with some changes made by motion of a Commissioner. The Fulda Heritage Society appropriation was dropped from $20,000 to $5,000 to match 2021. The MN Rural Counties membership of $2200 will be discontinued. $1500 will be added to join the MN Rural Broadband Coalition. Support of the Civil Air Patrol will continue for $1000 even though it is based out of Nobles County. The Fair Board appropriation of $34,000 will be divided with only half to be paid automatically; the other half will need to be requested by the Fair Board.
The next meeting will be a Special Meeting at 3:30 p.m. on November 30.
The Public Hearing on Ditch Levies will be at 5:00 p.m. the same day.
The Public Hearing on the Budget will follow at 6:00 p.m.
